(Chapter 6 – From nightmare to reality)
Meanwhile, at the same time as the events in Celestia happens, in the Human kingdom, Terra, the next day after Liana's nightmare, Liana woke up late, but still planned to go to school. When she went downstairs, her brother stopped her from leaving and told her to rest. Liana followed her brother's decision, she just opened the television, when she saw the events of her nightmare in the news. A guy who saw what happened is being interviewed.
"I went to visit my grandmother who happens to live somewhere in the old town. I was just passing through that part of the town, when I saw a girl who looked like a high school student, running quickly and intensely from the distance. I wondered why, when suddenly I saw many other people chasing her, they wield scythes and swords, they wear red long capes and each of them has mask covering some part of their faces..." The guy who is being interviewed exposed these to the media.
Liana's fear grew stronger. She called her brother and pointed to the news, Alex wondered what's wrong when his sister suddenly said, "My nightmare... last night... Alex... That's what I dreamed about!"
Liana's eyes grew more fearful, "And the girl is..... If my dream was this news, then.... Rhea is.... Big brother, Rhea might be dead!"
Alex knew how scared his sister is, he stayed at home that day too, they continued to watch the news. "Big brother, do all the things I dream of happen in reality..? Is that another special skill of mine too other than hearing other’s thought...?" Liana asked with shivering voice. Alex knew that this is so, but he said he doesn't know anything about it so that his sister won’t be scared.
The interview went on, "I caught a video of it, but it's not as clear because I was too far from them..."
The video played on the T.V. screen. Liana then whispered to her brother, who was sitting beside her, "It's exactly the same, big brother... How could this happen..? Why Rhea..?"
Liana suddenly remembered what the little girl from the world tree said about her dreams being the truth, and made her more nervous.
“It might be just a coincidence... It might not be Rhea...” Alex bit his lip as he said this. He didn’t want to lie, but he also didn’t want Liana to be too scared and nervous, for he knows that Liana has a very frail health and it might cause her powers to overreact and bring abnormalities to her body too.
The day passed by quickly, it was already afternoon. Then someone rings the doorbell, Liana answered it and it was Anise. "Oh Anise, come in..."
Anise went in and greeted Alex, she sat on the couch."Hey.. How are you doing..? Why didn't you come to class..? Are you feeling alright...?"
"Uhh.. yeah... I just got a little tired from yesterday... But I'll be returning to class tomorrow..." Liana answered carefully, so she won't say anything that might trigger Anise's curiosity.
"Jeez... I was so worried... It's all Jihl's fault! If only she'd keep her VERY great ideas to herself..."
Liana felt glad that she met a true friend like Anise, but also felt a little scared now that her life became more complicated, she doesn't want Anise to get involved with her problems. Though it hurts her so much to lie to Anise, while she thinks that Anise is always being true to her, she had to do it so Anise won't get further involved.
"Oh... Anise, did Rhea come to school today..?" Liana asked this as she remembers the news and her nightmare.
"Hmm..? Well, she wasn't present a while ago... why'd you ask..? Did something happen between the two of you yesterday..? Is that why you two are both absent today..?" Anise thought that even Rhea is taking advantage of her now, so she got a little irritated.
"It's not that! it's just that........" Liana couldn't think of anything to say, then her brother suddenly came to her rescue. "Anise.... You want something to drink..? Or probably few cupcakes and cookies..? Liana loves to bake and her sweets are just simply delicious, so you should try them..." Anise immediately forgot about her question as soon as she heard sweets.
Liana went to get the sweet treats and ate them together with Anise and Alex. Anise then left before 6 pm again, saying that she’s not allowed to stay outside of her house after 6, so she left.
Liana went to back to her room at night time. She looked out her window and saw someone mysteriously standing beside the house in front of their house. She got nervous, she tried to look closely and that “someone” seemed to be a teenage guy, but Liana couldn’t see his face clearly because the shadow of the house in front covered his face, but she knew that the guy was looking at her. Liana locked the window and then went to bed in fear of being watched again.
Meanwhile, Jed is patrolling the surrounding of Liana’s house when he saw the same guy, still standing in the same position, looking at Liana’s window. Jed found him very suspicious, so he confronted him. The guy was wearing a black sleeveless jacket with hood that also covers most parts of his face.
“Who are you and what are you doing here..?” Jed took his sword out.
The guy smiled boastfully, and then started talking in a form of cold whisper. “Don’t talk as if you own this street... Just because you’re a Celestian, it doesn’t mean you own everything. What I’m doing here is clearly none of your business. And I’m not in the mood to fight....a weakling like you.” The guy turned around and walked away.
Jed was enraged with what the guy said so he chased him, he grabbed the guy’s shoulder and just in a blink of an eye, he was thrown into the wall. Jed was shocked and stunned by what just happened.
“How weak... How dare you touch me with those filthy hands...?” The guy’s hood was removed, but it was too dark in that part of town for Jed to see the guy’s face clearly. But the guy went towards Jed and grabbed him by the neck, Jed was too dizzy to see him clearly, but he saw that the guy’s eyes were red; red was a very rare color for the eyes, and those who possesses red eyes were always rumoured to be blood-related to the Destroyer.
The guy was about to strike him when someone called, “Wil..... Please leave him alone... Let him go... He and the others can actually make our mission much easier to accomplish... Now, let’s go back home...”
Jed saw a figure of a lady whose voice seemed to be very familiar yet he couldn’t remember who. The guy let Jed go and went away with his female companion. Jed then recovered immediately and continued his patrol around the street while still being troubled about what happened, about what the lady said, about the lady herself, and about Liana’s safety now that he knows that strangers are watching her.
That same night, Jed found out that their base was attacked while he was on watch around Liana’s home. Many were wounded. Fortunately, the back-up he asked for came that night, so their base was saved. It turns out that the dark phantoms are still confused of who the scion is, since they know where the celestian base are, they attacked it also knowing that few are guiding it, with hopes of extracting fundamental information concerning the identity and exact location of the Scion.
The officers that Jed asked for were other high-ranking officers of Celestia. While they were fighting another enemy leader, that leader mentioned about a royalty of Celestia being part of the phantoms, and by the way the guy leader described the royalty, the description seemed to match the “highness” Jed used to serve ever since he was a kid, the best intelligence asset and one of the high sages of Celestia, a famous flame caster, and the princess of Celestia from the main branch of royalties, Alyssa Katrea, who had been missing for 3 years. He asked some of his companions to send the queen his written reports concerning the information that he gathered that night, that everything is getting more and more complicated as time progresses.
The next day, Liana left her house earlier than usual, to go to a convenient store, Jed closely kept an eye on her. He pretends to be just an average young man and followed her but Liana doesn’t seem to notice him. Liana was caught in a trouble at the convenient store, a group of thugs surrounded her, Jed used this opportunity to show and introduce himself to Liana. He beat up the thugs one by one making while trying to make Liana admire him.
After the small fight, Jed then started talking to Liana, “Hey... Are you okay..? You should be more careful with people like that next time. My name is Jed by the way... What’s yours..?”
With his good looks and his calm actions, he can easily make lots of girls fall for him at first sight, but unfortunately for him, Liana is not affected by his pheromone.
“Uh... Thank you for your help, sir...” Liana bows at him tensely but with respect, “I’m Liana, I’m very sorry for troubling you... Sorry..! I’ll be more careful next time” Liana bows for the last time and then excused herself to leave that moment.
“Well... That’s convenient... I guess the scion is much more special than I thought... Even my charm didn’t work on her...” Jed scratched his head, “Man... I don’t think it’d be that easy to establish a close relationship with her...”
A man suddenly comes out after hiding behind a wall, “Jed... Buddy... The queen gave you the mission to protect her, not to flirt with her. Jeez! I thought you’re a stick-to-one type of guy, why would you flirt with a girl other than your “special” someone...?”
“Shut up, Van!” Jed looked behind him and stared at the man with irritation, “I just thought that she would be easier to protect if she is close to me, and trusts me!”
Jed walks towards Van and punches his left shoulder, “I will never replace that girl! I loved her since the first time I saw her, since I was about 8 years old I think... You know that, right..?”
Van smiled cheerfully, “Yes, of course I know that, buddy! I’m your friend, after all. And it was love at first sight, sigh, young love...”
Van laughed sarcastically, “So how come you haven’t confessed to her yet..? You’ve been keeping that romantic feeling for about 20 years now, right..? Even with your other self awakened, you’re still a coward when it comes to confessions eh..?” Van laughs hard while he pats Jed’s shoulder.
“Well, maybe I am! But it’s none of your business whether I confess now or not! Besides, even if I try, she’ll definitely say no.” Jed said, while still trying to keep watch of Liana from the distance.
“Alright! Whatever! Just go on and follow the scion!” Van suddenly jumped up to the roof of the store and then waved goodbye to Jed. Jed ran to Liana’s school to watch her from the shadows the whole afternoon.
